Phil Lawrie is the CEO (and a Trustee) of Silverstone Heritage Limited, trading as Silverstone Museum. Phil took up his position in July 2023, overseeing all aspects of Silverstone Museum’s strategy, development, sustainability and operation. He has full financial and regulatory responsibility for this non-profit charitable organisation with 130+ employees/volunteers, welcoming 160,000+ visitors per annum. He reports to the Museum’s Board of Trustees.
Prior to joining Silverstone Museum Phil worked for 13 years as Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Museums (QM) and General Manager of QM’s wholly owned commercial arm IN-Q Enterprises – a 400-employee subsidiary whose establishment and set up Phil planned and oversaw.
Phil was Director of Global Distribution for Al Jazeera Media Network 2007-10, overseeing a team structure with representative offices in Doha, London, Kuala Lumpur and New York. Before that he worked for 7 years at CNN (Turner Broadcasting), latterly as Vice President, Commercial Distribution, and earlier at American Express (in various roles related to Amex’s corporate travel and merchant services divisions).
Phil spent 9 years in the British Army Reserve, being commissioned as an infantry officer in 1999, and served as Chairman and Treasurer of the British Embassy-sponsored Doha English Speaking School 2011-15. He has a triple-crown-accredited (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS) Master of Business Administration (with Merit) qualification from the University of Bradford School of Management, one of the UK’s oldest business schools.
